(1) 我が国の歴史上の主な事象について，人物の働きや代表的な文化遺産を中心に遺跡や文化財，資料などを活用して調べ，歴史を学ぶ意味を考えるようにするとともに，自分たちの生活の歴史的背景，我が国の歴史や先人の働きについて理解と関心を深めるようにする。

(2) 我が国の政治の働きについて，次のことを調査したり資料を活用したりして調べ，国民主権と関連付けて政治は国民生活の安定と向上を図るために大切な働きをしていること，現在の我が国の民主政治は日本国憲法の基本的な考え方に基づいていることを考えるようにする。

(3) 世界の中の日本の役割について，次のことを調査したり地図や地球儀，資料などを活用したりして調べ，外国の人々と共に生きていくためには異なる文化や習慣を理解し合うことが大切であること，世界平和の大切さと我が国が世界において重要な役割を果たしていることを考えるようにする。
